Palmer Incentive – Advanced Placement Mini School Enrichment Program
If you are a Grade 7 student who wishes to apply to the Pre-AP/Incentive Program for the 2020-2021 school year, please carefully review all of the following information (including the linked documents). Download and print a copy of the application form, which you need to complete and submit to Palmer’s school office by 4:00pm on Friday, February 7th, 2020. (Please check the list below for other items you are required to submit.)
The Pre-AP/Incentive Program is hosting an Information Meeting on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 7:30pm in the School Library. This is part of Palmer’s annual Spotlight on Palmer (open house) evening, which starts at 6:30pm. At this event, students and parents are welcome to visit Palmer Secondary to view all the different departments, programs, and activities that showcase what the school has to offer to our students.
Items to submit with your application:
All of the items listed below are due by Tuesday, February 18, 2020 (except for the application form, which is due by Friday, February 7, 2020). Items may be submitted to Palmer’s School Office, or the student applicant may bring and submit them at the Entrance Exams on Tuesday, February 18th (final deadlinefor all forms and documents). Links to all the required forms as well as a list of all the important dates and deadlines may be found at the bottom of this page.
Completed application form (due at Palmer’s school office by Fri. Feb. 7, 2020)
Passport-style photograph of yourself
Photocopies of your final (June) Grade 6 Report Card and latest Grade 7 Report Card.*
Completed Grade 7 Teacher Evaluation Form in a sealed envelope signed across the flap by the teacher
Photocopy of student’s Richmond School Board “Get Wet” or “WaterSafe” swimming certificate (if available)
*Note: For students from schools that are not using the traditional letter-grade-based report card, please submit any summative reports that the school has issued (including anecdotal or rubric-based reports). If these reports are also not available, it is then vital that the student applicant ensures that his/her Grade 7 teacher provides a Grade 7 Teacher’s Reference Form by Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
If you live outside of Palmer’s catchment area or presently attend an elementary school not in our catchment area, you will need to complete a School Transfer Form and submit it to Palmer’s School Office by Thursday, February 28, 2020. This form is available at all Richmond elementary and secondary school offices, as well as at the Richmond School Board office and online at the link below beginning January 27, 2020. Representatives from Palmer’s Pre-AP/Incentive Program will be visiting Palmer catchment elementary schools (DeBeck Elementary, Garden City Elementary and General Currie Elementary) in late January to present information about the program to interested Grade 7 students. Listen to your school announcements or ask your Grade 7 teacher for dates and times for these visits.
