Spring Science, Shakespeare, & Strathcona

Spring is in full swing here at Palmer and in the Incentive Program and April is a particularly busy month for our students.

Science
Our Gr 8 and Gr 9 Palmer Science Fair winners were at UBC the past 3 days as part of the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair. Last year the Palmer Incentive students came away with a newfound appreciation for science and some wonderful feedback on their projects.

This year as well, the following students were recognized:
Grade 8 – Daniel He & Allen Xu (Honourable Mention)
Grade 9 – Yana Choudhary (Silver Medal & the Lynn Valley Garden award); Riya Dua (Gold Medal)

Congratulations to all the students put in the extra effort to continue improving their projects for the GVRSF!

Shakespeare
The Palmer Incentive Program was very excited to once again be able to attend the Ashland Shakespeare Festival. The students travelled to Ashland, Oregon last week and experienced a variety of plays, met actors and production members, and took part in workshops to learn more about the performing arts.
The last time the program went to Ashland was in 2019 and judging from the smiles of the students, it is safe to say it was a welcome return!

Strathcona
The Grade 8 Incentive students will be leaving later this month for their Strathcona Outdoor Experience trip. The students will be taking part in a variety of activities similar to last year’s trip and they are looking forward to taking in the amazing Strathcona Provincial Park atmosphere.

Overall it’s been a busy but exciting spring in Incentive. Stay tuned to hear more about the student’s experiences!
