After a long series of cancelled trips due to COVID, this year marks the return of the Incentive Program student retreats with the Grade 8 Camp Strathcona trip being the first to take place.
The students travelled to Strathcona Park Lodge (SPL) on Vancouver Island for 5 days of outdoor activities, lead by the highly capable and fully trained camp leaders at SPL. For many students, this was their first exposure to the many ways to enjoy the great outdoors including canoeing, camping, or rock climbing.
The trip included a one-night camp which had the student groups canoe to a camp site, set up their camp and camp fire, and cook together as a team. Nature was also very kind to provide us with beautiful weather throughout the week so the students could fully immerse in the experience.
As can be seen from the smiles, everyone came away from Strathcona with a positive experience, many saying that their leaders taught them not only new skills, but new appreciation for nature.
Thank you once again to Strathcona Park Lodge for providing supportive group leaders and for preparing meals throughout the week. We look forwarding to visiting again in 2024!
